Specimen Requirements

1. Instruct patient not to urinate for 1 hour prior to collection.
2. Collect at least 5 mL to 30 mL of first portion of voided urine in a clean, dry container with a leakproof cap. No preservative.
3. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth or medical record number, date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.
4. Send specimen refrigerated.
Note:  Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
