Specimen Requirements
Patient Preparation
Patient should fast 1 hour before test. The patient should not have taken antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors (PPI's), or bismuth preparations within 2 weeks prior to administering test. Histamine 2-receptor antagonists (H2RAs) should be discontinued 24-48 hours before test.
Container/Tube: BreathTek UBT Kit
Collection instructions:
1. Baseline collection: select BLUE bag and remove pull-off cap from mouthpiece. Instruct patent to (1) breathe normally, (2) take a eep breath then pause momentarily; (3) exhale into the mouthpiece of the bag. Replace cap firmly until it clicks.
2. Prepare Pranactin-Citric solution. (No more than 60 minutes before administration.)
3. Tap the Pranactin-Citric pouch to settle the contents and empty into the drinking cup.
4. Add drinking water to the fill line indicated on the cup by a raised plastic ridge.
5. Close the lid securely by pressing down until a click is heard. Swirl the mixture for 1-2 minutes until dissolved.
6. Instruct patient to drink solution from cup with straw provided, without stopping. Advise the patient NOT to 'rinse' the inside of their mouth with the solution before swallowing. Discard the straw when patient has finished drinking the solution.
7. Set a timer for 15 minutes. Patient should sit quietly and should not eat, drink, or smoke.
8. After 15 minutes and no more than 30 minutes collect the post-dose breath sample with the PINK collection bag by following the same procedure in step 1.
9. Store specimens at room temperature (15°-30°C).

Methodology
Delta over Baseline (DOB): Measured difference between the ratios of CO2 values before and after administration of Pranactin-Citric solution.
