Specimen Requirements

**Plasma or serum AND urine are required for this test. Plasma or serum specimen should preferably be drawn at the end of the 24-hour period of urine collection.**

 

Urine Specimen
Container/Tube: Plastic urine container
Minimum Volume: 0.5ml 
Collection Instructions: Patient’s height and weight and starting and ending times of collection are required. No preservative. Refrigerate specimen during collection, and send specimen refrigerated.

Blood Specimen

Preferred:
Container/Tube: Green cap-yellow ring Top (Lithium Heparin Gel) tube
Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL 
Collection Instructions: Centrifuge within 2 hours.
Also Acceptable:
Container/Tube: Plain, Red Top or Serum gel (SST-Gel) tube

Uncorrected clearance:  75-125 mL/min

40-49 Years: 74-118 ml/min

50-59 Years: 67-112 ml/min

60-69 Years: 60-106 ml/min

Male:

0-39 Years: 90-139 ml/min

40-49 Years: 84-132 ml/min

50-59 Years: 77-126 ml/min

60-69 Years: 70-120 ml/min

70-79 Years: 64-113 ml/min

80-89 Years: 58-106 ml/min

90+ Years: 51-100 ml/min

 

Specimen Stability

Refrigerate: 48 hours
Frozen: aliquot for longer storage
